Prior to founding RET Ventures in 2017, John was a Venture Partner with DN Capital in Munich, Germany. Before that, John ran and successfully exited two venture-backed real estate tech startups, was CFO of Marcus & Millichap, and a consultant at McKinsey & Company. He graduated Phi Beta Kappa with a B.A. in Economics from the University of Wisconsin and holds an MBA from Harvard Business School. You can find John on his skis or mountain biking around Park City or—his favorite thing—spending time with his wife, son, and daughter.
Prior to RET, Chris spent twelve years at the global private equity firm TPG, where he led growth investments in tech-enabled companies and partnered closely with CEOs and entrepreneurs. He began his career as a consultant with McKinsey & Company. Chris has an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business, where he was an Arjay Miller Scholar, as well as an AB in Economics and an SM in Computer Science from Harvard University. You can find Chris flying between Park City and San Francisco, trailing the RET team on the snow, or driving anything with four wheels.
Fred served as president, chief executive officer and director of Invitation Homes Inc., the nation’s largest single-family rental company, as well as related predecessor companies from 2013 until his retirement in 2019. Fred was executive vice president and president—property management for Equity Residential, the nation’s largest multi-family REIT, from 1994 until his retirement in 2013. Throughout his career, he has served on numerous real estate industry boards and executive committees.
Alec joined RET Ventures in 2017 from the Leveraged Finance group at BofA Merrill Lynch in New York, where he worked on debt capital financings for corporate issuers and private equity funds. He holds a B.A. in Economics from the University of Chicago. Originally from San Francisco, Alec is a traveler at heart and spends his time out of the office outdoors: hiking, skiing, snowboarding, and skydiving.
Tayla joined RET Ventures from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth, where she earned an MBA in 2018. While pursuing her MBA, Tayla gained proptech venture experience at Fifth Wall Ventures. Tayla is originally from Maine and holds a B.A. in mathematics from Dartmouth. She enjoys hiking and traveling in remote parts of the world in her free time.
After spending 3 years with Goldman Sachs’ Real Estate IB group in New York, Jameson joined RET in the spring of 2020. He is a local to Northern Utah, with a B.S. in finance from Utah State University. Jameson enjoys anything and everything related to the outdoors but more often than not he spends his free time playing soccer with his wife or skiing the slopes of Alta.
Sam joined RET in April 2020 from Fullsteam, a payments technology and SaaS company that he helped form as part of the company’s founding investment team at Aquiline Capital Partners. Prior to Fullsteam, Sam spent time as a consultant to the leadership team of Armour Group, a global P&C reinsurance company that he also worked on while at Aquiline. Sam began his career as an investment professional at Aquiline, a New York-based private equity and venture capital firm specializing in the technology and financial services sectors. Sam graduated from the University of Chicago in 2017 with a BA in history. When not working, Sam is most likely enjoying live music, diving into a great book, or somewhere in the mountains hunting for fresh powder.
Mykell joined the RET Ventures team in 2019 bringing with her years of experience in administration and management. Having worked for multiple firms in the Salt Lake Valley she is now able to combine her work and life passions together in Park City. A Utah native, Mykell loves exploring the outdoors, traveling, and spending time with her daughter.
Frances joined RET Ventures in 2019. She has worked in start-ups and turnarounds since 2007, with CFO/COO roles since 2013. Prior to that, she was an associate in the Healthcare Group at Banc of America and previously worked at Ernst & Young. She has an MBA from Wharton School of Business and a B.S. in finance and accounting from New York University. Frances moved from NYC to Park City with her family five years ago and enjoys the PC lifestyle of skiing, mountain biking, and camping.
